Zippy Idea
I used to spend hours keeping my
large containers of leftover yarns
from getting tangled. Now, I put small
balls of yarn into zip-lock sandwich
bags. My large containers stay orga-
nized and I can pick a bag to get a
ball of yarn that is tangle-free
Wall décor
Wondering what else you can
do with doilies besides placing
them on the table? Starch, back
with black velvet and frame under
glass. Voila! You have a beautiful
piece of artwork for your wall
Cool for Spring
Do you find that crocheting a
Bedspread in the winter is fine, but in
The warmer months it is too hot to
Hold on your lap as you work? Use a
Plastic laundry basket to hold the
Almost finished project, which is
Heavy. The basket also holds the
Skeins of yarn or ball of thread and
Hook for easy pick up and go trips.
A Pair of Tips
Here are a couple of ideas, that
I find helpful. First, when you are
finished with your crochet project
take a warm iron and iron your
knots. They will melt together
and won’t show. Secondly, if you
enter items in your local fair’s needle
craft competitions, place them in
clear plastic so they won’t get dirty,
but can still be viewed.

Crocheting Filet
Here’s an easy way to keep your
Place when crocheting from a filet
Diagram: Make a copy of the diagram
At your local copy center, you can
Have it enlarged for easier reading.
Cover this with clear contact paper.
Cross off the rows with a dry erase
Pen or a dark crayon as you finish
Yarn Control
Can’t control your skein of yarn?
Need to keep it clean and untangled?
Take a large, round oatmeal box, cut
A small hole in the plastic lid, put
your skein inside and thread the yarn
through the hole. Snap on the lid and
you are ready to go. A potato can
can works best for smaller skeins of
yarn, like baby yarn.

Hook Case Idea
An eyeglasses case ( with clip
On the back) makes a great holder
For crochet hooks and markers. It
Protects hooks and will clip easily
Onto your crochet bag. And it’s
Easy to take along when you travel.

Display Seasonal Designs
Many of the seasonal designs and dolls
Such as scarecrows, Valentine’s Day,
Etc. can be made into attractive door
Decorations by sewing a plastic curtain
Ring on the back. Smaller designs, such
As ornaments and fridges, look great
Hanging in the window.
Excess Yarn Solution
When my yarn projects are completed, I crochet
The remaining yarn into granny squares, or even a
Partial square if not enough to make a whole square.
I keep them in a box marked Granny Squares. When
I want to make an afghan, sweater, hat, scarf or vest,
I have a good start on that project. This takes care of
My excess yarn.

Rubber Band Tip
I put a rubber band on my crochet hook
Where I can hold it in a comfortable position.
The crochet hook will not slip off my fingers
Or out of my hand. It feels like holding a
Pemcil at the right angle.

Protect Steel Hooks
To keep steel crochet hooks from
rusting and to make your crocheting
go faster, coat your hooks lightly with
beeswax. A chunk of it may be pur-
chased at most sewing notions stores
