Spider-Woman
By Gloria Lavoy-Lussier
“Ch 6, sc in 5th loop from hook,” Spider – woman creates a new look And with her web she’s spinning dreams. Was it only yesterday ( it seems), A dress was made for a tiny doll, A basket of posies to hang on the wall Slippers to keep the family warm. Unravel the yarn the length of your arm You missed a stitch but it means no harm. Rip it out and begin anew….. It’s not a doily you’re making this time As you reminisce, it’s a valentine.

Learning
By Colleen Carroll
Fingers moving so fast now Its hard to believe I once didn’t know how I practiced for hours I just had to learn For a hook and yarn I began to yearn Improvements kept coming Fingers started to fly I just couldn’t stop Once I gave it a try The love of crocheting Just took over me Reading patterns Now comes so easily Happiness is What crochet will import This wonderful craft Is dear to my heart.

Easter Basket
By Tilitha Waicekauskas
“Oh, my!” she squealed with pure delight. “ My Easter basket’s snowy white! “It’s lace! Just look at how it’s made! Oh, Grandma! It must be Crocheted!” Grandma watched with loving Smile And knew her work had been Worthwhile. Her crochet hook made love and Lace. Repaid by childhood’s happy Face.

My Moment
By Colleen Carroll
Sometimes I just steal away. A moment alone, for myself, To crochet. How precious…. Away from the phone’s incessant Ringing, the dishes in the sink, The laundry piled high. Those things can wait for now, But the yearning to hold a hook And yarn cannot. So I pull a Project out quickly, knowing There is only a minute, but I Relish it, treasure each second And every stitch I complete, Finally feeling fulfilled.

A Piece of Herself
By Brenda K. Ward
On my child’s bed An afghan lies Of orange, rust And white. All winter through I use it to Tuck her in At night. Crafted long ago By loving hands Who never held Her near, But who left behind A piece of herself To shelter loved Ones dear.

A Passion for Doilies
By Isabelle Wolters
Which of these doilies shall I make To keep my collection up to date? Doilies in cream and ecru and white, Some touch with color To make them bright. Round and square and oval ones too I’d like to have much more than a few! Adorning my tables or Placed up on shelves, Lovely in groupings or just by themselves. Patterns for doilies are easily found, So I’ll keep making doilies all year-round

Here I Go Again
Here I go again, Hook and yarn in hand. My family rolls their eyes, It’s already after nine. Off to bed they go, I stay on the couch instead. A new pattern by my side, Excitement I can’t hide. Tonight I’m not mother, And I cannot be a wife. Amidst the golds and yellows My creation comes to life.
